Back From My Hiatus

I suck. (Just look at Mufasa's face above  he knows.)

I didn't really mean to disappear, but you know how it is: stuff happens, life happens, I got busy. But once again, I'm trying to get back to blogging because it keeps my family, friends and online friends up-to-date on what's happenin' in my life. Not that I live such an exciting life ... well, my mom thinks I do. (I love you, Mom!)

So what's been going on? Let's see: I'm currently taking summer classes at my university, I'm interning at two local magazines and I'm the new copy desk chief at the university paper. Basically, this all means  that I'm uber busy  all the time. As a working girl, I live for the weekends now.

Speaking of weekends, it's Memorial Day weekend! If you're like me, it means it's an extra day in weekend, which means it's time for a road trip home! My family and I planning on having a cook-out, going to the beach and lots of naps. (OK, fine, the last part was just for me!)

It's time to get back to work, but I'll leave you with some photos of my life as of late.

Photo Challenge: Day Nine

Lately, I've discovered that I'm a little bit OCD. Tonight, as I was getting ready for the gym, I put my left shoe on before my right. As soon as I did it, all felt wrong in the world. It was just such a weird feeling, such as a wrong feeling.

I also can't leave my bathroom door open unless I'm in the bathroom (oh, the horror of it being ajar!), everything must be in its place before I go to bed every night, and each morning routine must be the same as the morning before.

I may just be a creature of habit, but I know that I have some quirks that may put me in the "OCD" category. Not that there's anything wrong with that - what's wrong with being neat and tidy anyway?

Day 9: A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

This guy has taken each one of my frantic "I'm going to drop out of school because I can't do it anymore" phone calls, has helped with cope with family issues and knows all my secrets.

He helps me get through the easy, the hard and the everything-in-between stuff.

He knows me.

And I love him for that.

Thanks, Thomas.

Photo Challenge: Day Eight

This past week has been jam-packed and a little too stressful for my liking. With just three more days of class and work, I can vaguely see a much-needed break in my future.

What will I be doing you ask? Catching up on my Z's, lounging at the beach and finally diving into some books on my shelf that I've been neglected. My break sounds absolutely wonderful.

Day 8: A picture that makes you laugh.
These two little munchkins continually crack me up.

Poor, Mufasa. Daisy is always trying to play with him, but he will just not go for it. He's "too cool" for her.

Every time I see this photo, I'm reminded of how much I miss these two weirdos.

Just a few more days until cuddle time!

....sometimes I can't even believe how weird I am with my cats.

....other times, I embrace it.

But not today. I apologize for being crazy.

Photo Challenge: Day Seven

It's only Tuesday and this week has been a whirlwind. Friday can't come soon enough!

I've been applying to summer internships all day, but I feel like there are so many out there I'm not finding. I'd love to travel to a big city this summer and have a big-girl job, but who knows what will happen. I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope something good pops up!

Day 7: A picture of your most treasured item.
 Mufasa, my baby fluffball.

Although he's not an "item," he's my favorite thing to call my own.

Not to sound like a crazy cat lady over here  because it's really starting to look that wa— I love my little cat (editor's note: he's actually a tubby cat and totally not little at all).

Six years ago, I rescued him from a tree and took him home to safety. Ever since, he's been the most loving, grateful pet I've owned.

I treasure my pets very much. They hold a large spot in my heart. I don't want to think about what I would do if anything happened to this guy, but I know it wouldn't be pretty.

Please don't think I'm a weird cat lady after this post.

Photo Challenge: Day Six

This weekend was so nice! Thomas and I spent the entire weekend together eating out, cooking in and just being together. It's been at least a month since we've had quality time together, so just being around one another was enough for us.

Day 6: A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

Cynthia Leive.

Cynthia is the editor-in-chief of Glamour magazine.

My dream career is to be the editor of a well-known women's magazine.

Growing up, I was obsessed with reading magazines, just as I am now. It only makes since for me to continue to pursue a career in this field.

I'd give anything to have her job!

Photo Challenge: Day Five

With all the sleep I've been missing this week, I more than made up for it today. I took two short naps today in between meetings and classes. And I'm not going to lie, both naps felt amazing. Of course they did. I've been neglecting sleep like a red-headed step-child, so any sleep at all was well worth it.

I went to work tonight expecting to come home to an empty but welcoming bed. Little did I know that Thomas would decide to drive up to visit me for the weekend. The trip is long overdue, so of course I'm super exciting for some quality time together. He's currently at my apartment waiting patiently for me while I'm at work. He already dropped off a bag of Dove dark chocolates. He's the best.

Day 5: A photo of your favorite memory.
My favorite memory to date is from my time in Italy. During my senior year of high school, my best friend, Nikki, and I went with a small group to Italy during spring break.

I don't have any of my pictures of the trip on my laptop now (which I should get), which is why I borrowed one from Google.

When in Italy, I fell in love with the food, the fashion and the overall culture. Everything was so magical and historical. I loved every single second of my time there, and I can't wait to visit again some day.

I'm already planning my next trip to Europe (hello, France, England, Amsterdam, etc.), which will hopefully be after I graduate next year.

Photo Challenge: Day Four

Today was probably the longest day I've ever had. I was on campus for about 12 hours, and not going to lie, it was miserable. With two coffees and a packed lunch, it was still hard to get through. But once I got home, I took a wonderful hour-long cat nap to hold me over until bedtime.

Is it Friday afternoon yet? Just one and a half days until the weekend! Let's do this.

Photo 4: A picture of your night.
This is where I spent the majority of my night. I took a wonderful nap, read for some classes and even indulged in some dark chocolate Hershey kisses. Yum.

Tomorrow will be a make-up day of sorts. I plan on hitting the gym extra hard since I skipped in today for a nap, watching a film for class and reading more required material. Sounds extra fun, right?
