Reason #29047294

On why I love my boyfriend.

Thomas and I went to the mall today. Before we left, I decided to wear my new pair of red flats {that I haven't quite worn in just yet}. After an hour or so of walking around, the back of my heels were covered in blisters. And let me just tell you, they hurttttt. I had no other choice but to take off my shoes.

Here's where my awesome boyfriend steps in.

He looked at me and told me he wasn't wearing shoes either, just so I wasn't the only weird one walking barefoot through the mall. He even carried our shoes.

He totally didn't have to do that. But he did anyway. For me.
Love that guy.

I don't know why, but lately I've been feeling pretty down. It may be my lack of socialization with the outside world {I've been studying all week, people}, but whatever it is, I don't like it.

I miss my family, I miss my hometown friends and my animals. I'm back to resenting being at school again. I just can't be here for very long or I start feeling lonely and kinda pathetic. I have friends, don't get me wrong, but my favorite people aren't here with me, and it leaves me a little incomplete.
There have been a few things that happened in the past two months that I wish would have worked out differently, which is probably why I'm feeling like a little Debbie Downer. Ho hum.

I've said it before, but can it please be Spring Break, yet?

At least I caught up on some homework...

So this weekend I went to go see Thomas again. And it was this weekend that he started his new job. As happy as I am that he is doing what he loves, it still sucks because it's less time that I get to see him, even when I'm there.

He worked over 36 hours this weekend, which means I spent 36 hours sleeping, catching up on all my homework for the week and reading my stack of magazines. At least I was productive...

Anyway, this week consists of two exams, a workshop and a bunch of reading I'm not quite ready to jump into. Let me just tell you how excited I am that Spring Break is just a week away.

I plan on getting my tan on at the beach, reading for leisure and visiting with my family and friends. Thank goodness for the week off. I need time to think of something of other than AP style, politics in television and supply and demand.
C'mon Spring Break, get here sooner!

I think I have a problem

You guys, I think I have a problem
And I don't know what to do about it.

Every since I started school this year, I have picked up the habit of picking at/pulling my cuticles. This usually results in my fingers bleeding and then swelling. I know it's bad and my cuticles are meant to be there, but honestly, I can't help it.
I think it started after my workload starting getting heavy. I became more and more stressed as the school year went on, which meant more of the cuticle abuse. Currently, six of my fingers are either swollen or have missing cuticles.

So, I'm asking for help. I don't want to do this anymore! How do I stop? Any tips?
My poor fingers need help!

my weekend-part deux

Yesterday I told you all about my Thursday and Friday night.
Well, here's Saturday and Sunday!

My family arrived! I haven't seen them in almost a month, so it was so great to see them and hug them! We immediately left to go to my fav breakfast place, Village Inn. Of course, I got chocolate chip pancakes!
After stuffing our faces with breakfast {and getting a free iced coffee for being a "cutie"}, we headed to the mall!
Pretty much everyone got new shoes, except me. I finally got the perfume I've been drooling over {Poppy by Coach}. It just smells so good! And my momma also got me a couple of tops. Yay to Forever 21 and H&M.

After the mall, we were exhausted and starving. That's when we decided to go to Olive Garden for a nice family meal and to celebrate the boys' birthday early {their b-day was yesterday!}.
I ordered chicken milanese. Soooo good.
And I had some of mom's cheese ravioli. Mmmm.
And some of Kodee's pizza....I was hungry, okay?!
Then we surprised the boys with a cake and some singing. They were surprised, it was cute.
It was a great day with my love and my fam. Absolutely perfect.

My mom called us early and wanted to go to breakfast again. So we went to Denny's. Again, I got chocolate chip pancakes. I can't help it, it's my favorite breakfast dish...
Then we went to Target. It's pretty much tradition. I got new shoes and my mom got me a cute new shoulder bag. It's floral. I love it.

And then they left. It was so sad, I almost cried. Two days with them is just not enough. I want more time!

Later that night, Thomas and I celebrated Valentine's Day early. It was the most romantic thing he's ever done for me. He made me dinner and decorated his place with rose petals and candles. The meal was all home-made and absolutely delicious. He made grilled chicken breast marinated in a garlic paste, roasted red potatoes with rosemary, and a zuccini and tomato vegetable blend. Needless to say, I ate the whole thing. And that never happens.

And then....and then he surprised me with chocolate covered strawberries. I've never experienced chocolate covered strawberries before. CCS = Heaven. In. My. Mouth.
Thomas also ordered a massage kit, which we postponed until next time we see each other because after our weekend with my family, we were exhausted.

Overall, this past weekend was the absolute best. I have the best boyfriend and an amazing family. Love love love to them.

this weekend was so wonderful

And when I say wonderful, I mean it was even more than I could have asked for.
It was, in a word, perfect.

Thursday afternoon I went to go stay with Thomas for the weekend. It was so good seeing him for the first time in three weeks. We stood in the parking lot hugging for at least 15 minutes. It was magical.

We went inside and as I walked in, there were fresh baked cookies waiting for me {so yummy}. He then asked me to grab something for him that was in a cabinet, and when I opened it up, there sat a dozen beautiful red roses. I've never gotten roses before, so I was impressed.
That night we hung out, just enjoying each others company. It had been such a long time since we last saw one another, so being together was just enough for us.

Friday morning, Thomas woke up and made me breakfast: chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. Mmmm. I wish I would have gotten a picture.
{He's so mean...}
We then decided to finally go see No Strings Attached. Such a good choice. It was such an adorable movie, and I'm pretty sure we both fell more in love with Natalie Portman. {Girl crush, anyone?}

We then went to Tijuana Flats for dinner. I wanted Thomas to taste the deliciousness that I've been getting while here at school. He approved. After dinner, we were feeling brave, so we rented Paranormal Activity 2. We weren't that scared!
More on my weekend tomorrow! Hope you all have a great night!

Is it the weekend yet?

 Goodness, gracious!
These two past weeks have been nothing but stress-filled, and boy has that been keepin' me busy! So busy that I haven't left school in almost a month. That's right, a month. If you know me, this is crazy talk. I usually go home or go visit Thomas during the weekends, so even one weekend here is weird.

But you know what? I actually had a good time at school.

My roommate and I have been going on lots of lunch/dinner dates, making dinner, and going to group fitness classes together {hello, pilates/yoga/yogalates!}. I'm going to miss her this weekend!

Why? Because:

1. I am going to visit Thomas, where
2. My family is coming up to visit {to go out to eat and shop til we drop}, and
3. It's Valentine's Day weekend and Thomas is planning something extra special and will not tell me.
At all. As in, I've gotten numerous phone calls when different instructions on what to pack and it's getting me all excited!
FYI, he told me to pack a fancy smancy outfit!

This weekend is just what I need.
After three weeks of intense studying and homework, this girl needs a break!
{sorry for repeat photos, I just really like them and haven't seen anyone to take new ones}

hello, goodbye

I will be gone all this weekend and possibly all of the following week.
Why you ask? School. Exams. Papers. You know, all that fun stuff.

So until then, have a good weekend/week!
