Swoon Worthy

Earlier today Thomas and I saw Crazy, Stupid, Love. If you didn't already know, Ryan Gosling stars in the film. If also didn't know, I'm in love with Ryan Gosling. Not only he is extremely attractive {read: GORGEOUS}, but he's an incredible actor. Every role I've seen him in, he's nailed- his role in Crazy, Stupid, Love didn't disappoint. In fact, it may have led me to have fallen more in love with him...

Marry me, Ryan Gosling? Thomas won't mind...

Sense of humor, bright eyes, intelligence, nice smile, must be taller than me and arms.

I gave Thomas a kiss on my way out the door this morning.

5. A description of someone I love:
TALL, funny, smart, selfless and loyal.

Back In Action

I had a wonderful time at home {even if it was only for a few days}, but I'm back and ready to finish out my summer internship. Just four more days left to go, and then I'm homebound!

With my internship coming to an end, I'm beginning to feel a little sad. I've had such an amazing time working for great people, gaining tons of experience and finally finding my calling.

I could go on and on about how much I've loved my internship, but I think I'll just finish up by saying how thankful I am that Orlando Weekly took a chance on me. I came in with little to no experience, and they accepted me with open arms. I thought that going in without clips would hinder me, but in fact, it helped me. OW gave me many story assignments confident that I could do them all- and I did!

I've loved every minute of my time spent with OW. A part of me would love to stay with the paper even longer, but I know that it's time for me to find what works best for me. Writing for an alternative publication is fun, but my interest in writing tends to swing towards magazine-style writing.

So here's to hoping I find a great opportunity with a magazine that's just as fun and exciting as working for OW!

Happy List

 {Crazy, happy day picture!}
Although I've been going, going, going all day long, I can't help but to notice some things that are keeping a smile on my face. I couldn't help but share!

1. I tried out my new cereal this morning. It was delish! (FiberOne Honey Squares with banana- yum.)
2. I stopped to get my morning iced coffee today- I got it in less than 2 minutes! Hooray for no lines!
3. I brought my laptop to work today to get some more work done. I love non-lagging Macs!
4. Lunch was provided today. Oh, happy day! I'm in lurrrrve with spinach and ricotta pizza.
5. I completely annihilated my school inbox today. Seriously, there's just something about an empty inbox that makes me feel so much more whole.
6. I wrote a new cover letter, updated my resume, compiled all of my clips and wrote story pitches for an internship I'm interested in for the fall. Just sent my email/application!
7. I have an hour left to kill at work....and it feels amazing!
8. And finally, I'M GOING HOME TODAY! At least for a couple of days. My best friend is heading to Albania on the first, so I decided to go home and visit with her before her trip. Plus I get to see my fam and cuddle with my kitties. Win.

Obviously I'm having a great day today. I hope you are, too! I'm definitely feelin' the good vibes today!

Photobooth

So I may have dragged Thomas into a photobooth for an impromptu photo sesh, but it was totally worth it.

Keke's and IKEA

This morning I met up with two girlfriends {whom I will be living with in just a few weeks} for brunch and a trip to IKEA.

We met up at Keke's Breakfast Cafe {what can I say? I love it.}, and I ordered one banana chocolate chip pancake, egg whites and home fries. Seriously, it was fantastic, but way too much.  I think I may have only eaten a fourth of all the food. Totally delicious, though!

After brunch, we headed next door to IKEA for some much needed apartment shopping! To say we were excited is an understatement. We couldn't stop jotting down all sorts of affordable Swedish products. However, when it came down to actually buy said items, I just couldn't do it. It's alright, though, because I ended leaving with this gem.

I can't wait to decorate my room with this funky, little mirror! I'm in love!

Short On Words

Sometimes, I just don't have much to say.

I could tell you that this morning Thomas and I awoke early to get some breakfast together, and then went swimming while the weather was relatively nice.

I could also tell you that Thomas made us both dinner. And that we may have picked up dessert at one of our favorite ice shops.

But since I don't have much to say, I'll just say goodnight.

DIY: Mason Jars

Before school was out for summer, I began collecting mason jars {and haven't stopped since!} in the hopes of finding a cool project to use them for. I just love them; they're such simple, little glass jars, but hold many opportunities for DIY projects {like the ones above}. My favorite is the black and white photo holders. So classy and chic, yet so affordable {and completely doable!}.

Insomniac

Sleep gives me anxiety.

First off, let me start off by saying how much I love to sleep. I love napping, sleeping in and going to bed early {sometimes...}, but lately sleep and I have not been seeing eye to eye on some things.

For a couple of weeks now, I haven't been able to fall asleep at a decent hour {read: before midnight}. I understand that my body is used to being up late {I am a student you know}, but lying wide awake in bed at 4 o'clock in the morning just isn't ideal. Especially when I have to be up at 8 a.m. for my internship.

This leaves me dreading having to go to bed every night, because I know that I will be up longer than I'd like to be, trying to fall asleep. This then results in more stress, leaving me anxious and upset that I can't fall asleep in the first place. It's a vicious cycle. {One that I'd like to end...soon.}

Normally, I have no problem falling asleep. In fact, I'm usually the first one out {most of the time}, but I just don't know why this is happening to me all of a sudden.

So if there's anyone out there that can give me some tips on falling asleep {and getting to bed before the sun rises}, I'd love to hear it!

HARRY POTTER

It's no secret that the latest (and final) installment of the Harry Potter movies came this week. It's also no secret that I'm in love with the series (books and movies). Which means that I was obviously one of the diehard fans who braved the crowds for the midnight premiere on Thursday night.

It was magical. (pun intended)

Thomas and I went on a mini date before heading to the theatre, which was also magical. I was craving a big, leafy salad, but after a failed attempt for Sweet Tomatoes (it was closed), we hurried (and made it just in time before closing) to Panera. I ordered the strawberry poppyseed salad, but was quite surprised when I received a salad with....no strawberries. (It was ten minutes to closing, so I understand that they were probably short of supplies.) It was delicious nonetheless.

After a quick (think scarfing down our dinners in t-minus ten minutes or less) dinner, we went for dessert! It was the second time this week that we've been to Menchie's, but it's just so delicious we couldn't resist!

Once out bellies were full, we headed to the PACKED theatre. Um, wow, to say it was crowded is an understatement. But we quickly found seats and waiting patiently for our beloved movie to begin (yeah right, we were so excited, we couldn't sit still!).

The movie was amazing, but bittersweet. I was so happy that the movie turned out to well (and accurate), but I'm so sad it's finally over. I feel like a piece of my childhood has ended. I guess this means I need to re-read the books so I can forever feel like a kid!

Have you seen the new Harry Potter movie yet? Do you plan to?

Down Time

 {The first photo is post-beach, if you can't tell!}
On a whim, I decided to head home for a couple of days for some much needed down time.

I spent my time at home with my loving family, wonderful friends and my favorite furry babies {I really am I crazy cat lady....}. I also worked on my tan a bit with several trips to the beach and some refreshing time in the pool. Of course there was some shopping that may have taken place too...

I'd say that my impromptu trip home was one of the best decisions I've made in a while. I firmly believe that a little bit of love and comfort from family and friends can ease even the most stressful stresses. I really don't know what I'd do without them. I'm so grateful to have a group of supporters who bring so much love and happiness into my life on a daily basis.

Thank you, family. I love you.

Best kind of pick-me-up

Happy Monday!

I can't really say that I was ready for Monday this morning, but I managed to get through the day {even if the day went on for what seemed like centuries}. I don't know why but, this day was the slowest I've had in awhile, and it wasn't all that enjoyable to say the least.

But what was enjoyable was the weekday date Thomas and I went on tonight!

We decided to get some {yummy} food at Whole Foods because the last time we were there we practically drooled all over the open food bars, which I guess is kinda against the rules.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed all of my food {I had a variety of roasted vegetables, assorted fresh fruit, vegetable lasagna and vegan mac & cheese. I even made a salad for tomorrow's lunch!}, it was definitely not worth the price. I won't even go into how much we ended up paying {you pay based on the weight of the food} because we decided never to discuss it again. Yeah, it was that bad.

After quite the shock to our wallets, we decided to go ahead and get dessert. I know it doesn't really make sense, but we needed something to boost our spirits, and we weren't about to pay another dime at Whole Foods. So fro-yo it was!

If you have a Menchie's Frozen Yogurt shop near you, do me a favor and get in your car now {preferably when it's open, but hey, feel free to go whenever your heart desires} and get some fro-yo.

Our date definitely made up for my longer than ever day

Where does the time go?

I know I've said this before, but goodness, where did the weekend go? It feels like just yesterday that I was driving home from work, ready for the weekend. Okay, so maybe it was two days ago, but still, time flew by!

Weekend Recap
Saturday morning Thomas and I got up relatively early and headed to a new-to-us breakfast café called Keke's Breakfast Café. Let me start off by saying that this place is paradise. No, seriously, it's divine. Almost half of the menu was sweet breakfast foods {my favorite}, such as waffles, french toast and PANCAKES! It's pretty obvious that I ordered the pancakes. Banana chocolate chip pancakes to be exact. I wish I would have taken a picture of how ginormous these babies were {just look below for a glimpse!}; they took up the whole plate! I also ordered egg whites and bacon, and maybe I stole some home fries from Thomas' plate, too....

Thomas had to work today {which NEVER happens on a Sunday, grrrrrrr!}, so we {again} work up at a decent hour and headed to the movie theater to see Horrible Bosses. Verdict? I really liked it! Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day were quite the comedic trio. Loved them. Is it weird that I really like Charlie Day's voice? It's so soft and pleasant {?}....I'm just going to stop there before it gets weird. Or maybe it already has...

Moving on. I spent the rest of my night doing this workout from Tone It Up!, and online window shopping.

Isn't this adorable? I don't think I would ever buy it {it seems way too long}, but I am very drawn to it! I think I may be a crazy cat lady, help!

One of the perks of an office job

Can I just say that love working in an office? Why? Free food, duh.

At least once a week since I've been working my internship, I've had the pleasure in chowing down on some free grub with my co-workers. No matter what's being served {pizza, pasta and salad have been repeat offenders- which I love!}, I'm there.

I think it's a known fact that free food just tastes better. Am I right? Or maybe I've just been very lucky in the free food department. Either way, I'm down with the free stuff. Consuming delicious, calorie-dense food for lunch {as opposed to my daily salad beast} just makes the workday go by so much faster. Why? I'll never know, but I'll take it!

Can we get a little break?

Where I'm from, summer months are filled with sunny days and moist nights. To say this summer is any different would be a big fat lie. Although the weather has proved to be fairly consistent, I'll admit I'm not a fan of the nightly rain falls. In fact, I really despise them.

Because I work during the day {and treasure my mornings in bed until the very last minute}, there isn't much time left in the day, which leaves me with the early evenings to get a workout in. While I admire those who get up at the crack of dawn for a run with the rising sun, I just can't do it. Believe me, I've tried, but it's just not in the cards for me. Which is why I prefer to dedicate my time in the evenings to get a good cardio blast in.

However, with all this rain, I've had to either cut a few workouts short and/or completely skip a workout, which is just not my favorite thing to do. So, I'd like to formally ask Mother Nature for a little break. I mean, we can go a few nights without the sopping storms, right?

Grant me this little favor, at least for a few days.
