Hello, New Internship

This past week has been one big ball of stress. School has only just begun, and it has already swallowed me whole.

I don't want to make my blog a place where I continuously complain, but sometimes that's just all I've got. BUT I'm going to make a conscious effort to actually discuss the interesting aspects of my life.

So, first up: My new internship starts this week! I'm very excited to be working on a project that genuinely interests me- an online woman's magazine. My job will be to conduct research (read: creating and conducting random surveys and polls), write two stories a week and attend weekly meetings with the staff.

I'm so excited to be diving into a project that focuses on exactly what I want to do in life! I can't wait for it to begin!

I guess my internship takes the cake with the interesting part of my life as of lately. That's all right, though. I know this semester will be filled with exciting adventures and stories, so keep an eye out!

Until then, it's back to reading for a few of my classes and missing these guys. Have a great Tuesday!

Current State of Mind

There have only been two days of the fall semester so far, but in those two days I've felt like I've reached maximum capacity. This semester will be quite the adventure, so I'm preparing for a bumpy ride. Wish me luck.

Back To School

Based on the title of this post, you can probably guess where I am...back on the 'ol college stomping grounds.

Yesterday morning {FOUR THIRTY IN THE MORNING}, my family and I got up, ate my favorite breakfast as of late {my mom's chocolate banana pancakes with an over-easy egg on the side}, packed up the last of my stuff in our cars and headed off to take me to school. Let me just say, I have a lot of stuff! I never realize how much I have until it's time to move {or pack}, but now that I know, I never want to move again. It's not realistic, but hey, maybe my roommates will want to live with me for forever, too...

The good news is that I'm all unpacked, organized and ready to tackle the town today! I've got a long list of to-dos, so I'm going to head out. But first, here are a few photos of my new room! I love it!

On a "Mini Vacation"

 {Random pictures taken during errands with my sister}

This past week I've been at home, doing nothing but relaxing. It's the first time in what seems like forever that I have don't have a significant thing going on in my life. It feels amazing to bask in my own laziness, without a single thing on the agenda.

I may have even cut down on the time I normally dedicate to working out. But that's okay, I'm considering the short amount of time at home as a sort of "mini vacation," where it is completely acceptable to slack off. For now. Once school starts back up next week, I'll be back in the swing of things. But until then, my bed is beckoning me.

Short, But Sweet Visit

It was reeeally bright!

Yesterday I was one happy girl. Why? Because Thomas came to visit me at home! {I've been home for the past week getting ready for school in the upcoming week. I'm not that excited and a little unprepared, but it's all right. It'll pass.}

This visit was a special one because Thomas is such a busy guy that if I didn't live with him this summer, I probably wouldn't seen much of him. Not only is he a full-time college student {in culinary school!!!}, but he also works as a full time line cook {sometimes over 40 hours a week}. Needless to say that I was very happy to see that Thomas decided to drive two hours to come visit me one of his only free days.

I'm already counting down the days until I see him again, although I'm not really sure when that'll be just yet. But until then, I'll just have to rely on the photos I made him take with me this morning.

Awkward Sunburns

A few days ago, my family and I enjoyed a lovely day at the beach. We spent many, many hours basking in the hot, draining sun, and cooled off in the refreshing ocean water. During all of this fun in the sun, I sorta, kinda neglected to put on enough sunscreen. You don't need to tell me how horrible this is, believe me, I know, but yet I still forgot to put enough on.

Needless to say, hours later, I was burnt. On only half of my face. Awkward. Believe me when I say that I've learned my lesson. I will always wear more than enough sunscreen on my next trip to the beach. And no, I am not posting a picture of my sunburn...

Banana Cream Pie

On my recent trips home, my mom has been greeting me with one of my favorite desserts: banana cream pie.

One of my reason why I love it so much is because it's made with my favorite fruit: the banana. Plus, I love the simplicity of the banana cream pie; it calls for only four ingredients, all under $5.

If I could eat banana cream pie every night without turning into a banana myself, you better believe I would. But until then, I'll happily indulge in weekly slices.

I'm Home

Meet my sister.
She's weird. I'm weird.
I love her.

The Long Distance Thing

{Yes, Thomas didn't want to pose with me, so I did what any sneaky photographer would do: take the picture anyway without him noticing, during his extreme gaming marathon. It's okay, he loves me. Also worth noting, in terrible light, the front-side camera on my iPhone suuuuucks.}

My room is bare, the car is packed and the fridge is empty. I'm ready to go home.

Except that I'm not.

I don't want to leave Thomas. I know, I know, it was only a few months ago that I was wishing I were at home with my family, but now I can't imagine being away from T. We've spent the entire summer together {every. waking. moment.}, and now that I have to leave, it just feels wrong. Don't get me wrong, I'm more than thrilled to be in the company of my friends and family again {even if it is for two weeks}, but there's a part of me that would very much like to stay and continue going on dates with my favorite guy.

After tomorrow we will once again be in a long distance relationship. We've successfully defeated the cliche {you know, the one that claims we'll never make it?} for well over two years now, but I'm ready for us to permanently reside in the same zip code for more than three months at a time. Just two more years of waiting and finally we'll be able to make that happen.

Until then, late night phone calls and surprise visits are on the agenda. This I can handle, I suppose.

Chain Restaurant Love

Thomas and I had originally made plans to get breakfast together this morning, but due to some alarm clock mishaps {he set it for p.m.}, that never happened. Instead, we went out for a late lunch/early dinner at my favorite chain restaurant, Olive Garden.

There's just something about warm breadsticks, extra-large portions of pasta and over-priced tiramisu that makes my heart melt {and my tummy very happy}.

Downer Mood

I'm feelin' pretty blue today.

I don't know what it is that's got me down, but I'd really like it to go away. It might have to do with the fact that work wasn't all that great today. I felt as if my presence was insignificant, and my work, quite frankly, a little under-appreciated.

I have never felt this way about my position as an intern before, but I guess there's always a first for everything.

Right now all I would like to do is cuddle under the covers with a big 'ol bowl of cookie dough ice cream and eat my feelings. So I think that's what I'll be doing for the remainder of the day.

Sorry for the downer post. I promise I'll be back and happier than ever tomorrow.
